Furious Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Aston Villa's winner at Man Utd shouldn't have stood

Manchester United fell from first to fourth in 90 minutes - the last few of which were particularly dramatic, after their unbeaten start to the season came to an end at home to Aston Villa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left furious after the game as he felt Villa's late winner should have been disallowed for offside.

Kortney Hause bagged a rare goal on his first Premier League start of the season just before added time to put the visitors in front, but the defender went from hero to zero in little over two minutes after he was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the Villa area - prompting Mike Dean to point to the spot and award United a penalty.

Given Solskjaer's pre-match public war of words with Jurgen Klopp over the amount of penalties United are awarded, it is a twist of cruel irony that his side would be awarded one so late in the day Villa would have been unable to respond - only to miss it.

However, it was Villa's goal that angered Solskjaer after the game, as he explained: "[We are] Obviously disappointed because the goal is offside. It's unfortunate to have that decision against you."

The United boss did go on to address the penalty miss, criticising the conduct of the Aston Villa players before the spot-kick was taken.

"First of all the way they get round the penalty spot, get round Bruno and that, that's not to my liking," he said. "Bruno is usually very good in those positions and unfortunately he missed this one."

He did clarify that he does not feel the actions of the Villa players psyched out Fernandes, who is usually incredibly reliable from 12 yards.

"It doesn't get in Bruno's head. He's strong mentally and he'll step forward again. The decision (on who takes penalties) is made before the game," said Solskjaer.

Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made sure to pile on the mind games before the penalty, pointing at both Cristiano Ronaldo and Fernandes begging each of them to take it.

Once he saw the penalty fly over his crossbar, he got up and appeared to taunt the United fans with some form of dance just before the full-time whistle was blown.

This is not the first time the former Arsenal keeper has tried to get into the head of his opponent before a penalty; his antics during the Copa America went viral as Argentina marched to glory.
