A disgruntled driver who keeps being blocked from his own drive has staged a one-man protest by parking his car in the middle of the road.
Takeaway worker Shafi Rahman, 45, of Park Avenue in Whitley Bay, took the drastic step after becoming frustrated about cars parking in front of the entrance.
Having lived on the street for more than 25 years, Shafi said the situation has worse in the last few years.
Now, he claims he's reached breaking point.
Returning from work on Thursday night, he contacted police after being unable to park but was told there was nothing officers could do.
In protest, he has now parked his car in the middle of the road with an angry note which reads: "I have no parking space that's why I had to park here"
He said: "I came home about 11.30pm and couldn't get parked in my driveway. It has become increasingly worse in recent year, with people parking in front of the driveway.
"Last night it got to the point where there was no parking whatsoever.
"I phoned the police but they said there was nothing they could do about it because of right to park laws.
"I told them I was going to park in the middle of the road. I did and left a note."
He admits the protest has received a mixed reaction from residents.
"There have been people who have had their garages blocked and others who can't get onto their driveways," Shafi said.
"Some people understand why I am so frustrated and upset, but others have been shouting abuse."
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said parking matters were the responsibility of the council but confirmed there had been reports of an obstruction.
He added: "It was reported that due to an ongoing parking dispute a vehicle had parked in the middle of the street in protest and was obstructing all traffic flow."
A North Tyneside Council spokesperson said there were no enforceable restrictions on the road and an obstruction would be a police matter.
