Furious Lil Nas, Seth Rogan and other stars hit back at Fox News over inciting riot lies

Lil Nas X has furiously hit back at Fox News after a clip circulated on Twitter accusing him and other well known stars of inciting the 'riots' that have been raging for days across the US.

Unrest broke out across the country after the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died while a white policeman pinned his neck under his knee for nearly nine minutes in Minneapolis on May 25.

His brutal death has sparked worldwide Black Lives Matter protests - some of which have turned violent with police tear-gassing and shooting protesters with projectiles - for which celebrities including Lil Nas X have been blamed by Fox News.

In the clip, reporter Tucker Carson can be heard saying: "Rapper Lil Nas X urged his 4.7 million Twitter followers to donate to bail groups in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia and elsewhere.

"Imagine if he had used those followers instead to help small businesses destroyed by the riots he helped incite."

Lil Nas replied to the tweet of the clip, calling out Fox News for "lying" on national television.

He penned: "This man just lied and told millions of people on national television that I was inciting riots. You can't make this up."

The clip hears the reporter mention other famous names, as he said: "It isn't just major corporations that are fuelling this chaos, celebrities are too by paying to get violent rioters out of jail.

"Actor Steve Carrell from The Office donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which is providing bail to rioters. Seth Rogen, Don Cheadle, Janelle Monáe donated as well."

Seth also replied to the clip, writing: "I think when white supremacists are bothered by your actions, that’s probably a good thing."

In a later tweet he penned: "F**k this pasty a**hole."

Meanwhile singer Halsey also wrote: "Ahh my fellow 'Domestic terrorists'. F**k Fox News."

Nationwide and global protests broke out after the death of father-of-three Mr Floyd.

In a shocking video, white officer Derek Chauvin, 44, is seen kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes as he pleads for air.

He can be repeatedly heard screaming, "I can't breathe,' before passing out.

Chauvin has since been charged with second-degree and manslaughter.

Three of his colleagues involved in the interest have also been charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

This week has also seen a New York police officer shot during a protest late on Wednesday and another officer was slashed in Brooklyn, police said, but it was unclear if the attack was related to ongoing protests.
