Furious Jurgen Klopp suggests referee had "something personal" against Sadio Mane

A furious Jurgen Klopp suggested referee Felix Brych had "something personal" against Sadio Mane following Liverpool's defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Los Blancos ran out 3-1 winners in the first leg of the quarter-final with Vinicius Junior netting a brace and Marco Asensio also getting on the scoresheet to cancel out a Mohamed Salah consolation goal.

Klopp was angry with his side's performance on the night but was also disappointed with the match official after a number of big decisions went against Liverpool.

"The situation with Sadio today, the ref I don't know. Was it something personal?" asked Klopp following the match.

"Whenever Sadio went down he didn't get anything to be honest. I thought he was unfair with Sadio, that's what I told him. He didn't lose us the game but you need just an OK ref."

Liverpool go into the second leg having to score at least twice to have any chance of progressing to this season's semi-final.

But Klopp has written off his side's chances just yet.

He added: "We have to go for everything. We cannot say there's no chance for us in the Champions League. We have to fight until the end and we will.

"This is a good result for Real Madrid. With each day, we will go over it until the next game. There's a chance but we have to play much better football."
