Furious Joe Anderson 'demands answers' as Lancashire gyms stay open in Tier 3

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson is 'demanding answers' after Lancashire gyms will be allowed to remain open despite joining Liverpool city region in Tier 3 lockdown.

It has been reported that a deal was made between the local politicians in Lancashire and the Government to be put on the high level restrictions without the gym closures imposed on Merseyside.

The rules have already been criticised for being confusing and unfair, but now in a surprising twist, it seems the rules have been amended.

Joe Anderson said that the 'inconsistent' restrictions now seem to have a 'Tier 3 A and a Tier 3 B'.

Within minutes of the news being announced Joe Anderson took to Twitter to say: "Liverpool City Region has demanded immediate clarification on why Lancashire Gyms are allowed to stay open and Liverpools close.

"Inconsistent mess we now have Tier 3 A and Tier 3 B. Are gym users in Lancashire more safe than those in Liverpool Region #COVID-19 #shambles"

The news comes after a Wirral gym owner said his business 'simply wouldn't survive' under the current restrictions.

Body Tech Fitness owner, Nick Whitcombe is keeping his gym open despite being handed £1000 fines.

He appeared on This Morning today to say Government Tier 3 restrictions are not supported by enough evidence and don't offer 'adequate' financial support.

He told Eamonn and Ruth: “We’ve ran the maths, we’ve seen the financial package and we know that we will go out of business [with the package on the table].

“We simply wouldn’t survive this if we were to close our doors and not only that but the evidence doesn’t support the decision that has been made.”
