Furious headteacher demands Boris Johnson ‘do the right thing’ over A-level results disaster

A headteacher appeared on Monday's This Morning to discuss the A-level results disaster that happened over the weekend, which saw millions of students receive grades lower than what they were predicted.

Hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes spoke to Christine Cunniffe, who ranted: "It's disgraceful, I am absolutely lost for words about what has happened this weekend.

"It's about time the government did the honourable thing and backtrack, go to the centre-assessed grades, full stop."

The hosts were also joined by heartbroken teen Lina Asaar, whose A-level grades fell drastically from what she was predicted, losing her spot at a top uni.

Christine called the A-level scandal a "disgrace" (ITV)

Bright student Lina was predicted two a A*s and two As, but received A, B, C, and is taking legal action against the exam regulator OFQUAL.

"It's way below anything I've achieved this year, I've never even had a C in further maths, which i received a C in," she said.

"I put in so much work, I represent the school in a number of competitions for maths, so for my maths to be downgraded, I was really disappointed.

"I still don't understand how it happened."

Lina lost her place at Imperial College London, but it could be reinstated if her grades change after an appeal , which is what she is desperately hoping for.

But lawyer Gemma Abbott, legal director of The Good Law Project, said students cannot pin any hope on appeals, which is why she is supporting students taking legal action.

She said: "We are just seeing an absolute shambles here, the government and OFQUAL have had months to work this out."

She added that while the government is encouraging students to appeal their grades, it is highly unlikely the appeal will actually work to change anything for them.

"There was a student who was predicted a B by his teacher, and he received a U. You receive a U if you don't turn up to the exam!" she added.
