Furious Eagles fan caught on TV ends up being an Ivy League dean of admissions

Few fanbases are less forgiving than Philadelphia sports fans. They’ll roast their own players for poor performances, and they’ll absolutely lose their minds over bad calls.

It’s a time-honored Philadelphia tradition that borders on being a character trait.

During Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Lions, NFL fans were treated to a close-up shot of an Eagles fan completely losing his cool over a call. If you can read lips, you can see that this guy was upset. Really upset.

Well, astonishingly, that fan has been identified as … uh … the dean of admissions at the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania.

Seriously.

That angry Eagles fan is the smiling, mild-mannered Eric J. Furda from Penn’s admissions page. Again, the screaming man from above is in charge of admissions at one of the world’s most prestigious universities, which is kind of awesome and gloriously Philly at the same time.

Furda, to his credit, had some fun with the video and tweeted his reaction to the viral moment.

And hey, for all those aspiring Penn Quakers out there: Be sure to play up your Eagles fandom on those admissions essays.
