A man has been jailed for attacking the father of his daughter's partner in the street with a length of pipe.
Lee Prosser was looking to confront his daughter's boyfriend about an alleged altercation between the couple. But he instead found the man's dad and, "with the blood up", assaulted him outside his house.
Cardiff Crown Court heard Prosser has a history of violent offending including a conviction for inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Thomas Stanway, prosecuting, said the defendant and the victim knew each other as their children were in a relationship and the background to the assault were allegations of an altercation involving the couple.
He said on the late afternoon of September 12 last year a "furious" Prosser drove to his victim's house, pulling up outside the property and screaming from his van: "Where is he?".
When the victim went outside to see what was going on Prosser armed himself with a length of plastic piping from his van and struck him to the leg. The court his victim was able to lean on a parked car to stop himself falling to the ground at which point Prosser punched him in the face.
The 57-year-old defendant got into his van and drove off from the Elliots Town property and the victim's wife called the police. Prosser was arrested a week later and gave a "no comment" interview to officers.
