Furious dad demands: 'Find the cyclist who knocked my son into the Union Canal'

A furious father says his son was knocked into the cold waters of the Union Canal by a cyclist who failed to stop and help.

The incident is said to have taken place at the cycle path on the banks of the canal through Wester Hailes.

The 21-year-old was apparently left clutching on to the edge of the canal on Tuesday evening. He was uninjured but "shaken"  as he cannot swim.

Temperatures were around 2C on January 2.

His dad, who did not wish to be named, said: "Some b*****d hit my son, knocked him into the canal and didn’t stop.

"He can’t f***ing swim, luckily he caught the edge of the canal as he went in!"

The incident is understood to have been reported to police. Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
