Furious Chris Sutton fillets Celtic board as pundit claims Champions League collapse isn't on Ange Postecoglou

Furious Chris Sutton has hit out at the Celtic board - claiming their Champions League collapse falls firmly on their shoulders.

The pundit watched on as his former side threw away a lead against Midtjylland with the Danes fighting back to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Celtic had taken the lead through a screamer from Callum McGregor but it wasn't enough as Midtjylland outlasted them over 120 minutes.

The lack of depth Ange Postecoglou has available was laid bare as teenagers Dane Murray, Stephen Welsh and Adam Montgomery all featured prominently.

And Sutton claimed after the game that Postecoglou is not to blame for their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

He says that's on the board who have dealt the manager a losing hand.

He told Premier Sports: "It's embarrassing for Celtic to go out the Champions League at this stage.

"I think we all know the reasons for it. The manager has been dealt an awful hand.

"Look at his bench tonight, what he had to work with and what he had to put on.

"There were some issues that have needed addressing for a long time. We were talking about the goalkeeping situation.

"Barkas, Bain and Hazard aren't up to it. Why haven't they signed a goalkeeper?

Why was Kristoffer Ajer sold, with Dane Murray - who actually performed well tonight - thrown in at the deep end?

"This was embarrassing, and it's mismanagement from the top.

"But this isn't on the manager - this is on the board."
