Furious anti-masker armed with metal bar smashes Luas windows after being refused entry

Luas passengers were left terrified after an irate anti-masker who was refused entry for not wearing a mask tried to smash a window of the tram.

The alarming incident happened at the Broadstone stop this morning at 8am.

The tram was forced to wait for 10 minutes at the north Dublin stop as Luas security declined to let him on board after he refused to wear a mask.

One witness noted that the man said he had a mask but didn't wear it because of "the principle".

After they finally got the doors closed the furious man took out a bar and tried to bash in the tram windows in anger.

Gardai are investigating the incident of criminal damage, a Garda spokeswoman said.

She told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred at the Broadstone Luas Stop this morning, 14th May 2021 at approximately 8am.

"Investigations are ongoing."
