While many Brits are picking up the pieces from the ferocious overnight winds forecasters have warned that more blustery downpours are on the way.
After strong gusts battered the whole of England and Wales last night winds of up to 70mph are set to strike the two nations today.
A yellow weather warning for wind remains in place until 3pm and there are warnings that torrential downpours will batter the UK as well.
The Met Office says there will be 'strong winds' together with 'heavy and blustery showers' which could bring wide-ranging disruption.
Power cuts and loss of other services as well as chaos on the roads, rail, air and sea transport network are all expected.

The warning says: "Strong and gusty winds are likely to develop on Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday across England and Wales.
"Gusts of 50-55 mph are possible inland, especially close to showers.
"Gusts may reach 60-70mph on coasts and hills, especially in the west, before gradually easing on Thursday afternoon."

Earlier the The Royal National Lifeboat Institution urged people to take care near cliffs, seafronts or piers due to the "severe safety risk" caused by the wind and heavy rain.
The charity's head of water safety Gareth Morrison said about 150 people lose their lives at the coast each year and warned people to avoid taking unnecessary risks.

This morning the Met Office has warned Brits to expect torrential downpours today as well as 'very windy weather.'
This will fall as rain and hail with snow covering northern hills.
The showers will then continue as the weekend gets closer and meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said the deluge will drag on into the weekend.
He said: "The weekend is set to have an unsettled start but nothing usual for the time of year.
"We could see some strong winds during the early hours of Saturday morning and lots of heavy showers around particularly in the west.
"But as we go head into Sunday they should become less frequent and not quite as heavy, so it is an unsettled start but as the weekend goes on the winds will start to ease a little bit."
