Funso Ojo's red card has been upheld after Aberdeen and the SFA failed to find a workaround for a FIFA technicality,
Referee Bobby Madden brandished a second booking for the Dons' midfielder after an incident involving a fan at Dundee United.
The flashpoint happened when Ojo’s momentum took him into the advertising boards at the front of the Eddie Thompson stand.
A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident during the Scottish Premiership clash.
Following Saturday's game, Aberdeen have held talks with the governing body in an attempt to have the second booking overturned.
However, FIFA rules only allow a yellow card to be rescinded for cases of mistaken identity or simulation.
Neither of these options are available to Ojo, and he will now be missing for Sunday's clash with Celtic.
Dundee United have banned the supporter involved in the incident.
A club statement read: "We can confirm that an individual has had their season ticket cancelled and been banned from Tannadice Park for unacceptable conduct and breaching the terms of their season ticket contract.
"The club are committed to ensuring a safe environment for everyone to come along and enjoy football matches at Tannadice and we ask all fans to help ensure this is the case."
