Funniest reactions from Edinburgh Live readers after 'Nor Loch reappears'

Storm Ciara has brought some odd sights to Edinburgh, including a rogue pontoon which was sent sailing down the Water of Leith.

But the one which captured people's imagination seems to be the reappearance of the Nor Loch after a few centuries. Well, a smaller version of it anyway.

The downpour on Sunday led to a large pool of water fathering at the bottom of Princes Street Gardens, reminiscent of the man-made loch which used to sit just north of historic Edinburgh.

Stephen Harte tweeted a picture of the giant puddle on Sunday.

A few of our readers spoke their minds about the state of the park. It comes after concerns were raised about Princes Street Gardens being turned into a "mudflat" in January.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the company behind Edinburgh's Christmas Market came up a few times.

Underbelly are currently funding the council's efforts to restore the grass in the Gardens.

You can see some of the best reactions below.

1. The new winter attraction

2. Does it count as wild swimming?

3. Even The Witcher doesn't recommend this

4. Sounds pretty fun

5. A bit like a watery dodgems

6. Can't wait to see the costumes

How it looks now

By Monday morning, most of the new Nor Loch had gone, leaving a massive patch of sludge behind.

To be honest we'll miss it a bit, though with the forthcoming revamp of West Princes Street Gardens there's every chance we could see see new lochs popping up when the rain is heavy.
