A talented young Offaly footballer will be laid to rest on Friday following his untimely death.
Aaron Buckley, 22, from Clara, passed away in a tragic drowning accident in Limerick on Monday.
The tragic former soldier died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the Abbey River, close to the Absolute Hotel in Limerick city, shortly after 1pm.
Mr Buckley was swept under the surface in a fast-flowing current after he entered the water in the vicinity of Baal’s Bridge, Harry’s Mall.
A funeral notice on RIP.ie reads: "Deeply regretted by his loving parents Alvin and Edel, brothers Gavin and Noah, sister Jemma, grandparents Pat and Ann Egan and Michael and Ann Buckley, uncles, aunts, cousins relatives and friends."
A wake will be held for the much-loved young man on Thursday evening at the home of his aunt and uncle Fiona and Peter Delaney on New Road, Clara from 2pm until 9pm with Rosary at 9pm.
Removal will take place on Friday morning to St. Brigid's Church, Clara arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by internment afterwards in the monastery cemetery.
Mr Buckley's relatives have requested family flowers only and their house private on Friday morning.
