Funeral taking place of 104-year-old Second World War veteran

A funeral service is taking place today to celebrate the life of a 104-year-old Second World War veteran.

The funeral for Jack Hollinshead is taking place at Holyrood Church, Moorside Road, in Swinton , on Thursday morning.

His cremation will then take place at Eccles Crematorium, in Peel Green.

A bugler has been arranged, but Mr Hollinshead's family are appealing for standard bearers to parade at the church.

The funeral service is taking place at 10.45am.

An appeal shared by charity Veterans' Garage on Facebook said: "Tomorrow will be the funeral of the late Jack Hollinshead, 104 years old and an RAF WW II veteran, will take place at Holyrood Church, Moorside Road, Swinton, Gtr Manchester M27 0HJ on Thursday, 19th September at 10-45am.

"His cremation will then take place at Eccles Crematorium, Peel Green, at 12.20 pm.

"A bugler has been arranged but his family have asked for standard bearers to parade at the church.

"RIP Jack, a true gentleman and man of honour."
