A two-year-old girl who died from sepsis will be laid to rest on Monday, with generous donors raising more than £10,000 to help her grieving family.
Little Eliza Woods died on December 14, two days after her parents Mike, 42, and Jodie, 40, noticed she had a high temperature and gave her prescription medication .
The same week Eliza 's siblings Jack, aged six, and Imogen, aged four, had both been off sick with a bug, and their parents had believed the tot had caught the same thing.
Nursery workers Mike and Jodie believed Eliza was recovering as she was eating and drinking.
Just hours before her death she was happily playing with Lego at the family home in Rhu, Argyll and Bute.
But the toddler's skin started showing signs of purpura, a discolouration of the skin caused by inflammation.
She was rushed to the Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, but tragically Eliza could not be saved.
Her father, Mike, said the family believes Eliza suffered from a bronchial infection which then became septicaemia, or sepsis, which caused her death.
Eliza will be laid to rest on Monday, December 30, but a fundraising page set up to help her grieving family raised more than £10,000 - five times the initial target.
The family, who also have an older daughter, Taylah, 18, have said the funeral, at Clydebank Crematorium, will celebrate Eliza's life rather than commemorate her death.
A funeral notice said: "Eliza may have only stayed on this earth for far too short a time, but in that time, she has touched many hearts.
"We would like to offer the opportunity to all those whose heart she has touched to celebrate her life.
"This service is to be a celebration of her life, rather than a commemoration of her passing - Eliza was never a fan of black and was vibrant soul, full of joy.
"This should be reflected in the way she is remembered, therefore we would request no ties and no black. The more colourful and vibrant your attire the better.
"Flowers are bright and beautiful, but cut flowers do not last.
" Eliza 's death at such a young age is senseless - we want to build a lasting legacy for her."
The family requested that donations were made to charity the Sepsis Trust, instead of flowers.
The notice added: "As much as we would like to, we cannot bring Eliza back... but together we can help to reduce further needless deaths."
So far £10, 663 has been raised to help the Woods family.
