Funeral of Fife murder victim Mark Hacon-Deavin set to be held after 'tragic' death

The funeral for a Fife man who tragically died after allegedly being stabbed on a cycle path is set to be held next month.

Mark Hacon-Deavin was found seriously injured in the early hours of July 17 on Boblingen Way in Glenrothes.

Emergency services were called to the scene but the 41-year-old was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

A major probe into the circumstances surrounding his death was launched with officers initially treating it as ‘unexplained’.

Detectives later announced that a 45-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Scott West has since appeared in court charged with murder but made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He is alleged to have repeatedly struck Mark with a knife or similar weapon on Saturday, July 17. He is due to stand trial at a later date.

A funeral notice for Mark announced that he is set to be laid to rest by his loved ones in Kirkcaldy on September 4.

It read: “Taken tragically on Saturday 17th July 2021, in Glenrothes. Mark, aged 41 years.

“Much loved brother of Luke and Daniel, brother-in-law to C-J and Lorraine, uncle to Carrie, Darryl, Aston & Cole and great uncle to Nova, so sadly missed by all who knew him.

“Funeral service at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Saturday 4th September at 11.00a.m, to which all family and friends are respectfully invited.”

In a statement released through police just days after Mark died, the family said: "We are completely devastated by his death.

“He was a much loved brother and uncle and will be sorely missed by all."
