Funeral director shares touching poem for anyone who has lost a loved one this year

This year has certainly been one to remember and not for the right reasons.

As it comes to a close, it’s a good time to remember lives that were lost.

Sarah Jones, director at Full Circle Funerals, has shared some Christmas messages that may be of comfort to anyone who is grieving over the festive season - a time that is typically hard for many who have lost loved ones.

The first message was in the form of a poem called 'Speak Their Name’.

It reads:

“Someone I love has gone away

And life is not the same,

The greatest gift that you can give,

Is just to speak their name.

I need to hear the stories,

And the tales of days gone past,

I need for you to understand

These memories must last.

We’ll never make more memories,

Since they are no longer here,

So when you say their name to me

It’s music to my ear.”

The funeral directors also shared a step-by-step guide to create a 'memory bauble'.

All you need to do is find a fillable bauble from a craft shop, or a small empty jar, and some items that remind you of that person.

"Speak Their Name" can be printed and sent to someone who may be struggling (Full Circle Funerals)

This could be a cinema ticket, a photo, or anything item that you cherish to remind you of that particular person.

Next, simply fill the bauble and hang the bauble on the tree or somewhere that is special to you. It's a good way of reflecting on the memories you have of the person and to still include them in the celebrations.

There are other ways of remembering a loved one here, from memory jars to planting trees.
