Funeral details for tragic young Longford man Ciaran O'Boyle who died in New York announced

A tragic young Irishman will be laid to rest in his native county this week following his death in New York.

Ciaran O'Boyle, 22, from Aughadegnan in Longford died after a suspected fall last Tuesday night.

A 911 call was made after he was found lying unconscious on Gates Avenue in Brooklyn.

Ciaran was found unresponsive and transferred to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's believed Ciaran, who studied at University College Dublin, had gone to a liquor store but never returned.

Police do not believe criminality was involved and that he may have fallen from an "elevated height".

The Irish Mirror understands Ciaran was on a holiday visa and due to come home to Ireland in the coming days.

He was to graduate at UCD and it's believed he had planned to start a new job in Dublin in September.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Ciarán will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken family, his parents Paddy and Jacinta, sister Rachel, brothers Kevin and Patrick, grandmother Deirdre, aunts, uncles, grandaunts, granduncles, cousins, relatives and many friends."

A wake will be held at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, on Thursday, August, 29 from 4pm, concluding with prayers at 8pm.

Removal to St Mel's Cathedral will take place on Friday morning,August 30, for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, followed by burial afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery.

If desired, donations can be made to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund.
