Funeral details for tragic teen Tiggy Hancock confirmed after horror accident

The funeral details for a tragic teenager killed in an accident at an equestrian centre on Wednesday have been released.

Tiggy Hancock, 15, died after suffering serious injuries during a training exercise at Greenogue Equestrian Centre at 2pm.

Despite the efforts of emergency services at the centre in Tay Lane, Rathcoole, Tiggy later died in Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin.

Her home community of Bagenalstown Co. Carlow, has been left devastated by the news.

A notice on rip.ie has informed the public of the details of her funeral.

In conjunction with current government guidelines, her funeral service will take place in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lorum at 2pm on Monday, June 21, followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.

Tiggy's funeral cortege will leave Kearney's Funeral Home, Fenagh via Ballinree this evening at 8pm.

People are welcome to line the route while adhering to guidelines.

Tiggy leaves behind her devastated parents Frank & Jane and two siblings, Eliza and Lucy.

The family would like to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding at this very difficult time.

Edmund Kearney, a friend of the family, insisted Tiggy was on track to have a highly successful career and become a household name in equestrian sport.

The 15-year-old had represented Ireland and the funeral director said she had so much talent that she would have had major success and become a household name.

He added: “She was on her way to the top.

“She was a girl who you would have been writing about for years if this hadn’t happened to her.”

He added: “I’d say she was at it from when she could walk.

“She represented Ireland several times.”
