Funeral details for tragic Leitrim man Francis Shanley, 36, who died in crash in Australia announced

A tragic Leitrim man who died in a horrific pile-up crash in Australia, will be laid to rest this week.

Francis Shanley, 36, was originally from Bornacoola, Co Leitrim but had settled in Sydney after moving there over 10 years ago.

He was due to wed his Australian partner Broc Nicholson, who he met after moving down under, next year.

A funeral notice on RIP.ie reads: "Deeply missed by his father Basil, mother Christine ,fiancée Broc, brother Fr Mark, sisters Catriona and Ruth, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest In Peace."

A funeral service and cremation was held in Sydney following Mr Shanley's tragic death.

Mr Shanley's ashes will be reposing in Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford on Friday, May 31, from 5pm to 8pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday in St Joseph's Church, Clonturk Dromod at 1030am with burial of ashes afterwards in Cloonmorris Cemetery.

Mr Shanley's family have requested their house strictly private and no flowers.

Donations, if desired, may be made to the Jack Dodd Foundation and Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund.
