Funeral details for tragic Donegal man Patrick McGinty who died in quad bike crash announced

A tragic man who died in a quad bike crash on Monday will be laid to rest in his native county on Friday.

Patrick McGinty, from Mountcharles in Donegal, suffered major head injuries after he fell from the bike and was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment.

He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin but sadly passed away as a result of his injuries.

No other vehicles were involved and gardai are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

who was in his 40s, was predeceased by his parents Frank and Nancy.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving family, sisters Marie, Rose and Donna, brothers Sean and Peter, brothers-in-law Shane Browne and Peter Lang, sister-in-law Glenda Cooke, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends."

Mr McGinty's Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, June 21, at 11am in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles, with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

Arrangements for the wake will be confirmed later.

Tributes were paid to the tragic Liverpool fan online, with one local writing: "RIP Patrick".

Another added: "A quiet lovely unassuming man. My condolences to you and all extended family and friends. May Patrick rest in peace.”

A third said: "God bless him and his family".

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardai in Donegal are investigating a single vehicle, fatal road traffic collision involving a quad bike.

“The driver of the quad, a man in his 40s, sustained serious head injuries when he came off the bike while travelling on a local road at Mullinboys near Mountcharles at approximately 7pm.”
