Funeral details for Tipperary man Jake Anderson, 21, who died in tragic crash announced

A young man will be laid to rest on Good Friday following his death in a tragic collision earlier this week.

Jake Anderson, 21, from Clerihan, Co Tipperary, died on Monday, April 15, following a crash between his car and a truck on the N24 road near Cahir.

The popular young man was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Very deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents Seamus and Claire, sisters Chloe, Gemma, Leah, Sophia and Avril, brothers Callum and Patrick, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephew Fionn, relatives and his many friends."

A wake for the apprentice pipe-fitter will be held this evening Thursday, April 18, at O’Donoghue’s Funeral Home, Kickham Street in Clonmel from 5pm to 8pm.

Tributes paid to 'lovely' young man who tragically died in truck and car crash near Cahir, Co Tipperary 

His funeral will arrive to St Michael’s Church, Clerihan on Friday at 11.45am for Funeral Liturgy at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. His family have requested their house private.

On Tuesday, Clonmel Rowing Club paid tribute to their former member.

An online post said: "We are all saddened to hear of the death of our former oarsman Jake Anderson, we offer our sincere sympathy to Seamus, Claire, Chloe and the rest of the Anderson family. RIP Jake."

A club spokesperson told the Irish Independent: "Jake first joined the club at 14 and was always so supportive and positive, especially to the younger rowers.

"He was a fantastic club member and just a lovely, popular and cheerful young man who came from a wonderful family.

"We're all devastated to hear what happened and our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

His heartbroken pals took to social media following the tragic death of the apprentice pipe-fitter.

One person said: "The nicest lad from the nicest family you’ll ever meet... RIP Jake. Thoughts and prayers to all the family."

A second said: "Rest in peace Jakey. I love you so much. God has gained one of the best. I will see you when I get there."

Another added: "Love you forever and always. RIP Jake Anderson."

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward and contact them in Clonmel on 052-6177640.
