Funeral details confirmed for tragic couple who died in Roscommon house fire

Funeral details have been confirmed for the tragic couple who died in a house fire last week.

Joey Tumulty and his partner Nuala Kenny, died when a blaze engulfed their home at Gurth near Rooty Cross, in south Co Roscommon on Friday the 13th of May.

Both victims of the fire, aged in their mid-forties, are from the area, which is near the M6 between Ballinasloe, Co Galway, and Athlone in Co Westmeath.

Joey Tumulty was a plasterer who had worked in a local farm supply business,while Nuala was a healthcare worker who was originally from the nearby Clonburren area.

Both victims had children from previous relationships.

Nuala’s private funeral mass will take place at 11am this morning in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Clonfad with burial immediately after in Moore Cemetery.

Her death notice on RIP.ie said that Nuala was the “beloved mother of Daniel, Adam and Evan.

It read: “She will be deeply missed by her sons, their father Paul, her father Martin, sisters, Bernie (Hendrick), Roisin (Rogerson) and Catherine (Hendrick), brothers, Gerry and Tommie, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends,”

Joey Tumulty’s funeral mass will take place on Friday at 11 o'clock in St. Mary’s Church, Moore, followed by burial in Kilbegly Cemetery.

A tribute to Joey on RIP.ie said the beloved father-of-two will be missed by his daughters Zoe and Millie as well as his siblings and a wide network of friends.
