Funeral details announced for tragic teen Michael Leddy, who died after Lanzarote fall

The funeral of a popular Irish teen who tragically died after a fall in Lanzarote will take place on Tuesday.

Michael Mikey' Leddy, 15, from Navan, Co Meath, will be laid to rest in St Mary's Cemetery, Navan following funeral Mass at 12 noon in St Mary's Church.

The death notice reads: "Predeceased by his grandparents Francis Kelly and Michael Leddy, treasured son of Damien and Aisling and beloved brother of Corey, Jack and Daniel.

"Mikey will be very sadly missed by his heart broken parents and brothers, his grandparents Michael Kelly and Mary Leddy, his aunts, uncles, cousins, team mates and many friends."

Mikey will be reposing at his home on Sunday (2-7pm) and Monday (2-6pm).

His tragic death last Tuesday after a fall while on holiday with his parents in Peurto del Carmen has left a community devastated and his wide circle of family and friends heartbroken.

Countless tributes were paid from all ends of the community to the hugely popular boy and sympathies expressed to both the Leddy and Kelly families who are well-regarded in Navan and Slane.

The soccer and GAA community united to start a GoFundme page to support his family, which has raised over 15,000 euro in just over a day so far.

Navan O'Mahony's GAA and Johnstown FC, where the talented footballer played, started the page to "support the Leddy family at this difficult time as they come to terms with the loss of Mikey, who tragically passed away in Lanzarote. "

Mikey was a valued member of both clubs. Significant expenses will be incurred by the family and both clubs are coming together to support the Leddy family."

In recent days the FAI and the Republic of Ireland team confirmed that they will honour Mikey before the Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland at Aviva Stadium next month with a minute's applause.
