Funeral arrangements for three men killed in Dublin N7 horror crash confirmed

Funeral arrangements for three men killed in a horror crash last week have been confirmed.

Dean Maguire, 29, Graham Taylor, 31, and 26-year-old Carl Freeman died after the BMW car they were travelling in smashed head-on into a lorry after they drove up the wrong side of the N7 last Wednesday night.

The convicted burglars, all from Tallaght, had just fled gardai in the minutes beforehand.

Maguire's funeral will take place on Friday at Priory Church in Tallaght Village at 11am mass before being brought to Newlands Cross Cemetery.

Taylor will be laid to rest following a service on Saturday in St Aidian's Church, Jobstown. His remains will be brought to Bohernabreena Cemetery.

Freeman's funeral will take place on Monday, also at Saint Aidian's Church, Jobstown before his burial at Newlands Cemetery.

All three ceremonies will be private, due to Government guidelines.

The three bodies were formally identified over the weekend through DNA after the car they were in exploded in the crash last Wednesday night.

Just minutes beforehand, officers had seen the car - with the reg of 06-D-47768 - travelling erratically in the Cheeverstown area and a high-speed chase ensued.

The car then drove onto the N7 on the wrong side of the road in a bid to evade cops.

At that stage, gardai pulled from chasing them because of the danger the gang’s route posed

But just a few minutes later, at around 11.40pm, the car smashed into a truck in a head-on collision on the N7 near the Rathcoole exit in Dublin.

The BMW burst into flames and the three men were killed.

The driver of the truck was left with serious leg injuries, but is recovering.

Gardai continue to appeal for witnesses to the crash.

A spokesman said: “Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. In particular, any witnesses who may have seen a dark blue BMW 3 Series vehicle (06-D-47768) in the areas of Belgard, Citywest or the N7 between 11.15pm – 12.00am are asked to come forward.

“Gardai can be contacted at Clondalkin Garda station on 01 6667600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”

The Garda Ombudsman is also conducting their own probe because gardai had chased the BMW before the crash.

They said: “The Commission asks any witnesses to the incidents or who have information or dash cam footage that will assist the investigations to contact GSOC at 1890 600 800 or info@gsoc.ie.”
