A number of Nottingham Forest legends have told their stories in a new book which aims to raise money for the club’s Powerchair team.
‘Talking Reds’ features the tales of 10 City Ground greats, including Steve Chettle, Bryan Roy, Mark Crossley and Chris Bart-Williams, who all detail their time at the club.
Author Keith Harrison, a football writer and Leader in Residence at the University of Central Lancashire, said: “It’s a great read for Forest fans, taking you right inside the dressing room for some of the biggest games in the club’s history.
“There are loads of fantastic tales about Brian Clough obviously, but also some interesting stories about many other managers and former players, too.
“There are first-hand accounts of Cup Finals, European nights, promotions and relegations - so the highs and the lows are all covered and the chapters are straight from the horses’ mouths, written by the people that were there.”
Ten percent of any profits from the book will go to Nottingham Forest Powerchair FC, which plays in the Muscular Dystrophy UK Powerchair Championship and features players in powered wheelchairs.
A spokesman for the club said: “We’re all really chuffed by the book. It looks great and we hope it does really well.”
Some of the other players featured in the book include League Cup-winning hero Nigel Jemson, former Player of the Year David Phillips, Jason Lee and Ian Woan.
The foreword has been written by Gary Brazil, who is now director of football development for the Reds.
Harrison added: “The book has only just gone on sale, but people are already snapping it up as a Christmas present and the first reviews have already come back very positive - apparently, it will make you laugh and cry. I hope that’s a good thing!
“We’ve had great support from the former players and also the Nottingham Post, which has supplied photographs, so we’d like to thank everyone for their help.”
The book is available on Amazon and also at a discounted launch price of £9.99 from www.talkingredsbook.com.
