Fundraising page to buy Nigel Farage a new suit after milkshake incident in Newcastle

A spoof fund-raising page has been set-up to buy Nigel Farage a new suit after he was 'milkshaked' in Newcastle.

Just hours after leader of The Brexit Party was doused in the takeaway drink on Blackett Street an online donation fund has been launched on the website JustGiving.

The page claims to be raising money to buy Mr Farage a new suit, in its title.

However, it explains that all money pledged will actually be passed on to children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Mr Farage was visiting Newcastle this afternoon, ahead of the European Parliament elections on May 23, when the milkshake was hurled at him.

He said: "I won't even engage with the low grade behaviour I was subjected to today. I will ignore it, perhaps even buy new clothes, and carry on."

And now, Simon Harris, has responded by setting up the fund-raiser 'Nige-Aid '.

On the page he writes: "After the leader of The Brexit Party Nigel Farage was disgracefully attacked with a milkshake in Newcastle, I have decided to set up Nige Aid - an appeal to raise enough money for not only a new suit, but also an armoured Popemobile so he can continue to campaign ahead of the European Elections without fear of dairy-based assaults.

"With the Rouble's strength against the Pound at an all-time low, I have decided to step in and help raise £100,000 for this true British patriot.

"I'm not talking about something off the peg from Matalan either - Nigel only wears the very best from Savile Row."

But at the bottom he explains: "This is an above-board, 100% kosher fund-raising page for CLIC Sargent. We have already raised £17,000 for Trussell Trust under a similar jape related to Katie Hopkins, so it's all good."

So far more than £1,200 has been donated to the page.
