Fundraisers set off on 200 mile cycle from capital to Iona to raise money for Edinburgh hospice

A group of fundraisers has set off on a 200 milecycle from Edinburgh to Iona in a bid to raise money for St Columba's Hospice.

The "Celtic Challenge" began early yesterday (2 May) with 15 participants setting off from the Hospice.

The cycle takes place over four days, taking in 50 miles each day, and includes the Rest & Be Thankful Pass, the Arrochar Alps as well as passing up the banks of Loch Lomond and along the banks of the water next to the Falkirk Wheel.

The route across Scotland finishes on the isle of Iona, home of the hospice’s spiritual namesake – St Columba.

St Columba's Hospice provides free care to people with terminal illnesses such as motor neurone disease, cancer, and cardiac and respiratory illnesses.
