An online campaign raising brain cancer research money in honour of Tasmania's Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin has reached almost $10,000.
Ms Goodwin's friends and colleagues have rallied in support of the 47-year-old, who was diagnosed with multiple brain tumours after being hospitalised in March.
Shortly afterwards, the Premier Will Hodgman informed Parliament she was not expected to recover from the disease.
Former school friends of Ms Goodwin have vowed to participate in the Run Melbourne event, the group of seven taking part as "Team Vanessa".
"We are completely devastated that this vibrant, intelligent, compassionate woman has been struck down by this terrible illness," the online page reads.
"Vanessa was an avid runner so we want your help to raise a bucket load of funds for brain cancer research."
In their plea for funding, the organisers said Ms Goodwin's diagnosis had left them feeling helpless.
"Vanessa's kindness has brought out everyone's desire to do something, anything to help her."
More than 100 people have donated to the cause, leaving messages of sympathy and encouragement.
"Good luck girls ... run like the wind," one said.
"Go team! Let's see an end to Cancer in our lifetime," said another.
All money raised will go to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
