Fundraiser launched for young Dublin man in intensive care after accident in Mexico

A fundraiser has been launched for a Dublin man who was involved in a serious accident in Mexico on Saturday.

Declan Waldon, originally from Castleknock, sustained a head injury during the incident.

As a result, he collapsed and was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at the scene.

Declan was airlifted by the emergency services, put into an induced coma and is currently residing in a private hospital in the intensive care unit in the North American country.

He is now under 24-hour care from the nursing and medical staff.

However, this is coming at a significant cost to Declan's family..

His family and friends are currently working with the medical team in Mexico to try and do all they can for Declan.

As a result, a GoFundMe page has been set-up to try and help both Declan and his family with the cost of the medical care and the cost of the rehabilitation involved.

Since launching on Monday morning, it has received almost €20,000 of their €50,000 target, with over 400 people chipping in to get the required funds so far.
