Fundraiser launched for woman who died after giving birth in Bristol

A fundraising page has been set up for the family of a young woman who died suddenly in Bristol over the weekend.

Organisers of the page said they wanted to raise money to give the young woman, named locally as Danielle Jones, a proper funeral send off, and also raise money for Danielle's newborn baby who has been left without his mum.

Organiser Emily Morley said Danielle loved horses and riding, and it would 'mean the world' to her devastated family if she took her final journey on a horse and carriage.

The fundraising page was set up on Monday afternoon, just as Bristol Live broke the tragic news that Danielle was pregnant at the time of her death, and her baby had been born in an emergency operation.

"Yesterday our beautiful friend Danielle lost her life and her baby boy was brought into this world, Danielle loved horses and it would mean the world to the family if she got her horse and carriage send off," said Emily.

"She was so innocent and kind and it has been a real shock to us all. Danielle's beautiful boy is still in the hospital and the family have nothing for him."

"Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Let's give Danielle the send off she deserves," she added.

Emergency services were called to an address in Knowle West, Bristol, just before noon yesterday, Sunday, January 17, and ambulances and police arrived.

Danielle died after being taken ill at lunchtime on Sunday at a house in South Bristol. Emergency services rushed to the address in Knowle West, and are understood to have performed an emergency operation to try to save her baby.

They took both mum and baby to hospital, but Danielle was pronounced dead at hospital.

Police confirmed yesterday (Monday) that a young woman had been taken to hospital and had died. They added on Sunday that they were treating the young woman's death as 'unexplained', and had launched an investigation.

On Monday, a police spokesperson confirmed the news that the woman had died after giving birth at the address, and the baby had survived and was being cared for at hospital.

The fundraising appeal has already had more than £3,000 donated online in the first 24 hours.

As a local media outlet, BristolLive has taken the decision not to publish photographs of Danielle or name her son at this stage to avoid further upset to her family.
