Fundraiser launched for funeral of tragic teen Jill Amante who drowned at sea near Drogheda, Co Louth

A fundraiser has been launched to pay for the funeral costs of tragic Louth teen Jill Amante.

Jill, 14, was enjoying the sunshine with two friends at Seapoint beach near Termonfeckin, Co Louth last Friday afternoon.

But while the three young people were swimming, Jill got into difficulty due to the riptide.

Rescue efforts proved unsuccessful, and Jill sadly passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

A message on the GoFundMe page reads: "Our dear loved one,  friend, neighbour and classmate Jill Amante tragically passed away suddenly on 28th June 2019 at just 14 years old.

"Jill was a charismatic, lively, bubbly, out-going, beautiful young lady who was taken from us way too soon.

"We as a community in Aston Village & Termon Abbey would like to help her family in this difficult time and allow them to grieve without the financial stress.

"The most pressing matter is to fund the travel expenses of two of Jill's siblings from Ghana to Ireland for the funeral.

"All donations received will go directly to Jill's family."

The fundraiser has already raised more than €10,000 in just two days.
