Fundraiser launched for funeral of Scots teen who died after being injured in street fight

A fundraiser has been launched for a 19-year-old man who died following an incident in Kilwinning at the weekend.

Police race to the scene in Ladyford Avenue around 2.30am on Saturday after locals reported a noisy disturbance in the street involving youths.

Darryl Wright, who was known as Dee, was rushed to Crosshouse hospital but sadly passed away on Monday.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Darryl's loved ones are now desperate to give him the send off he deserves after the teenager's tragic death.

His girlfriend's sister has launched a Just Giving page and funds raised will go towards his funeral.

A post on the page read: "On Friday night our boy Darryl was brutally attacked and left fighting for his life.. he passed away suddenly on 24 of may 2021 at the age of 19 with his whole life ahead of him!

"Darryl was the love of my sister Caitlyn’s life and we want to do everything we possibly can to give him the best send off he deserves!

"My thoughts go out to his family and his REAL friends who have been there for him through thick and thin! As Caitlyn's sister i would ask any donation big or small would mean the world to all of us!

"We love you Darryl Wright.. sleep tight son."

Daryl's girlfriend also left a touching message on the fundraiser.

She wrote: "My beautiful angel sleep tight you will always be my favourite will see you again one day my soul mate! Love you forever."

A balloon release is planned this Sunday, May 30, at Glasgow Green for Daryl so his friends and family can say their goodbyes.
