Fundraiser launched for Dublin mum whose house went on fire leaving them 'with just clothes on their backs'

A Dublin mum and her family have been left with "just the clothes on their backs" after their house went up in flames last week.

The heartbroken woman and her children managed to escape the house unhurt but the blaze destroyed all of their possessions.

Kim Thompson, the woman's niece has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for clothes and toiletries for her devastated Aunt Jenny.

She wrote: "I'm trying to raise funds to help my Aunty Jenny and her children out with clothes and toiletries and other basic needs to get them through at least for a while.

"Her house went on fire last night due to an electrical fault and absolutely everything was destroyed on them.

"All they have is the clothes on their backs that they ran out of the house in.

"Thankfully nobody was hurt and I thank God for that but my aunt is heartbroken.

"Her home and everything lost in the blink of an eye.

"I would truly appreciate any help that anyone could give.

"It would truly give them all a little pick me up being able to have clean clothes and all every day thanks in advance to anybody who can help."

Kindly donors have already contributed €880 towards the fundraiser, which has a €1,000 target.

Donations can be made to the fund here.
