Fundraiser launched after Glasgow quad bike tragedy victim left newborn baby behind

A bid has been launched to raise £5,000 for the family of a young dad who died in a horror quad bike tragedy.

David McMillan died on Thursday in Glasgow when the vehicle slammed into a lamp post.

The 27-year-old at the scene of the tragedy at Archerhill Road, Knightswood, in north west Glasgow.

Now a Just Giving site has been set up to provide for his partner Katie and newborn baby son Rex.

His family have been left devastated by his loss.

The Just Giving page says:"Written with a heavy heart.

"David tragically lost his life far too soon. Son to Irene and Thomas, Brother to Sean and Paul. Partner to Katie and daddy to their beautiful newborn baby boy Rex.

"David was loved by so many people and I'm hoping everyone can help me in raising some money at this devastating time for anything they as a family may need and for Katie and baby Rex‘s future."

The site has been set up by family friend Jennifer Bell.

Already hundreds of pounds have been raised.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene at around 4.50pm on Thursday but paramedics were unable to save him.

His devastated family said David had just become a dad just six weeks before the incident.

A statement read: “David was a much loved son, brother, partner and new dad to six-week-old baby boy.

“He was a huge character, bright and bubbly with a heart of gold. It was a tragic accident which has left family and friends absolutely broken.”

Friends and family have since paid tribute to David on social media

Jade Rough said: “One of the nicest boys you could ever meet. RIP David.”

Jai O’Donnell wrote: “Rest easy big man.”
