Fundraiser for young Scottish mother dying of Motor Neurone Disease raises over £43k in one weekend

A fundraising campaign for the charity backed by a single mum battling motor neurone disease(MND) has raised £43,000 in just one weekend.

Jennifer Bell from Milngavie, was told she had just months to live after being diagnosed with the brain condition following the birth of her second child.

But the 29-year-old defied medics and celebrated milestones including graduating from university and throwing a first birthday party for her baby girl.

Last month, the single mum of two girls, Georgia, aged nine, and one-year-old Kacey, recently made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to her daughters and move into Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow, as she entered into her ‘final chapter’.

Hearing her story, kindhearted Tesco staff set up a fundraiser in support of Jen's battle against motor neurone disease (MND).

Employees felt compelled to gather funds for MND Scotland and around 230 Tesco stores in Scotland and the north of England took part in fundraising activities for MND Scotland during the weekend of May 29th to June 1st, raising a total of £43,496.
