Friend of tragic Scot who died in horror accident raising funeral funds by picking up challenge he started

Over £2,000 has been raised for a Scots dockyard worker who died in a tragic work accident.

Miguel Watt passed away after an incident, which took place at Rosyth Dockyard in Fife, around 10.45am on Friday June 25.

The 23-year-old electrician was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but sadly could not be saved.

A fundraiser has now been launched to give him the "send off he deserves" as devastated pals described him as "one of a kind".

Close friend Morgan Mcintosh has organised a Go Fund Me page with all of the cash raised going to Miguel's family.

So far the £1,000 target has been smashed and is sitting at over double the expected amount.

To amp up the fundraising efforts Morgan has also decided to complete Miguel's daily fitness challenge and run 10k a day until August 5.

On the fundraising page she wrote: "Hi everyone, in honour of my amazing best friend Miguel who sadly was taken from us too early due to a tragic accident, I have decided to complete Miguel’s daily fitness challenge of running 10k a day for a month starting on Monday 5 July and finishing 5 August.

"I would like to help his amazing family out by raising money to help them through this difficult time and giving Miguel the send off he deserves.

"Anyone who knew Miguel would know how fit and healthy he was. He loved his fitness and loved a good challenge. My best friend had the most contagious smile that lit up the whole room, he was always so cheerful, cheeky, kind and just so loveable.

"I will miss my bruno every single day - He was one of a kind.

"Love you toots.

"All money raised will be contributed to his family."
