Funding will buy over 800 children from West Lothian their school uniform

The School Bank West Lothian were awarded £20,000 by the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The cash will enable them to provide a school uniform for 800 children.

The funds were awarded through People’s Postcode Trust, which is a grant-giving charity funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.

During the next year the school bank expect to support over 800 children by providing them with a school uniform pack.

This funding award will also allow them to continue to employ their project coordinator Collette Moran, and to run their annual Sponsor A Child campaign.

In 2016 the school bank became a registered charity and they have since grown very quickly.

Treasurer Rachel Annand said: “I cannot over-estimate the importance of the grant awarded by The People’s Postcode Trust, which will allow the project to continue to make a difference to so many children and their families in West Lothian over the next year.

“This is our largest single year grant to date and is vital to us being able to continue to employ our part-time project coordinator.”

School Bank West Lothian chair Kirstin Shemilt said: “The board of trustees are delighted to have been awarded this grant.”
