A £16 million bid for Government funding has been lodged for a multi-million regeneration project in Stoke-on-Trent.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council hopes to secure the cash from the Levelling Up Fund to support the major redevelopment of Swift House, next to Stoke Station.
StokeonTrentLive reports that the money will help to fund four specific elements of the canalside scheme - called The Goods Yard - which includes the development of 180 new homes, a three-star hotel and commercial office and leisure space.
There will also be a restaurant and bar and a water taxi service which would help to transport passengers to the bet365 stadium.

The city council is working with Manchester-based developer Capital & Centric for the scheme, and earlier this year, new images were revealed of how the scheme could look.
A planning application is due to be submitted this month.
Dan Jellyman, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "As was the case with the City Centre Regeneration Area, we already had a vision for Swift House, but if we get the Levelling Up funding it will help speed up the development.
"If the bid is not successful then it will be funded in a different way."
The council has submitted three other bids to the Levelling Up Fund. The government is expected to reveal which bids have been successful later this year.
