Fund crunch hasn’t hit welfare schemes: Balagopal

Despite the financial crunch, Kerala is at the forefront of welfare activities, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has said.

He was inaugurating an awareness programme for LIFE-PMAY beneficiaries, organised by the district panchayat and the District Poverty Alleviation Unit, here on Saturday.

“Assistance that touches all areas, including housing, medical aid and support to people living in extreme poverty, continues without break. Financial support for NH development has been ensured and various pensions and other benefits are being disbursed without fail. Despite facing post-COVID-19 economic challenges, the government is fulfilling its responsibilities. Each project is implemented after convincing the public,” said the Minister.

Property documents

The Minister handed over symbolic keys and property documents to LIFE Mission beneficiaries.

The event was followed by a Constitution awareness programme and a session on building low-cost houses.

District panchayat president Sam K. Daniel presided over the function and Assistant Collector Dr. Arun S. Nair delivered the keynote address. District panchayat vice-president Sumalal, District Poverty Alleviation Unit project director T.K. Sayoojya, district panchayat secretary Binun Wahid and District Planning Officer P. J. Amina attended the event.
