Things took a tropical turn at Auldhouse Primary in East Kilbride recently.
The rural school’s popular family fun day, organised by the Parent Council, was a huge success.
Chairwoman Christine Smith explained: “We decided to have a Hawaiian-style beach party theme this year and it definitely cheered up everyone between the rain showers.
“We’re really grateful to all the families who came along to join in the fun, and to the local businesses who supported us, including Morrisons Lindsayfield, Greenside Nursery, Lidl, B&Q, Caulders Garden Centre and Sainsbury’s.”
She added: “To everyone who baked, planted, painted signs and turned up to spend their hard-earned cash, we are really grateful.”
Highlights of the day included a Thorntonhall Ice Cream stall, a bouncy castle, plant and homebaking stalls, and fun games and competitions for all ages. Hungry fair goers were also treated to hot dogs and home-made crepes, plus luxury coffee from Roast Den.
Acting head teacher Emma Alexander said: “Our wee school has a big heart and the generosity of parents and families in working so hard to put this event on was fantastic.
“We are really proud of our place in our community and we’re grateful that so many of our neighbours, from Pauline and The Lost Lamb team to everyone at the Old Parish and Westwoodhill Churches, got involved to help us out.”
She added: “Having flower garlands, grass skirts and inflatable flamingos everywhere added a splash of colour and fun to what was an amazing day.”
