Fuming woman vows never to accept neighbour's parcel again after being left stuck with it

A woman who has been left storing her neighbour's parcel for days has vowed to never do a kind deed for them again.

When she was asked to take in a delivery for her neighbour, she done so without hesitation but is now at her wits end as they show no signs of retrieving the item, despite her asking them to collect it.

The woman, who lives in a block of flats, accepted deliveries for several other residents in one day and while most of her neighbours came to collect their items on the same day, the members of one flat still haven't been round to pick up their package three days after the delivery was made.

She claimed the neighbours in question are already on her bad side because they "generally annoy" her, and having them leave their parcel in her house was the final straw, the Mirror reports.

In a post on Mumsnet, she wrote: "My upstairs neighbour generally annoys me. Small things that build up - they make lots of noise, play loud music in the evenings, overwater their plants on their balcony by a crazy amount so that it ends up raining on our balcony and we can never dry washing on it just in case, park really badly in their car parking space that we sometimes can’t get into our space, and so on.

"But they’re also popular in the development and come across as being really nice to everyone so I’m conscious I can’t be seen to be difficult to the popular ones.

"Three days ago, Evri asked me if I can take a parcel in for them and two other neighbours. Happy to. The two other neighbours came by in the evening. However, my upstairs neighbour hasn't. Each floor has a security door so I can’t simply go and knock on their door.

"I have texted them saying I have a parcel for them. They are home as I can hear them but they're not collecting it. From experience, they only do things when it suits them so I wonder if they're just not bothering and are happy for me to store it."

Now, the woman plans on dumping the parcel outside the security door to her neighbour's floor, but although she doesn't like her neighbours, she's still worried the package could get pinched - especially as she agreed to take it in.

She added: "I am wondering if my opinion of them is clouding my judgement, but would it be unreasonable to go up and leave the parcel on their floor by the security door? If it was for neighbours I like I would happily store it but it's annoying me I have this huge parcel in my hallway that they’re just not picking up.

"Despite each floor having a security door, there is still a lobby area and people do have parcels taken from that area from time to time."

Commenters on the post were split, as some said she should keep hold of it but not take any more from them, while others joked she could get revenge by storing the package on her balcony - where it will get soaked the next time her neighbours water their plants.

One person said: "No, do not leave it outside the security door. You have accepted it, and presumably, the courier has a record of this. You either wait for them to collect it or deliver it to them."

While another added: "I would hold the parcel until they collect but then never take another. Don't tell them this, be sweetness and light if falling out will cause problems, but simply tell the driver you can't take their parcels."

But someone else joked: "Store it on your balcony. 'Oh, dear neighbour it appears to have got all soggy when you watered your plants, what a shame that was the only place I had space for it.' "

As a fourth stated: "Storing it on the balcony is genius. Let them water it!"
