Fuming Strictly fans point out mistake as Katie McGlynn is sent home over Judi Love
Viewers were upset as Katie McGlynn became the second contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing after she and Gorka Marquez faced Judi Love and Graziano Di Prima in the dreaded dance off.
Comedian Judi and her dance partner performed their Charleston to When You’re Good to Mama from Chicago, then Katie and Gorka performed their American Smooth to Cruella De Vil from Cruella, in a bid to remain in the BBC dance competition.
On the judging panel Anton Du Beke wanted Katie and Gorka to stay but Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas all chose to save Judi.
Fans pointed out that Judi had made a mistake in her routine, which was picked up by new judge and former Strictly pro dancer Anton.
"I love how Judi couldn't get Grazianno's braces back on properly so he spent most of the dance with one up and one down," said one viewer on Twitter.
But Shirley said she 'didn’t see any mistakes'.
"Shirley didn’t see any mistakes in the dance off???? Judi messed up with the braces.......best get yourself off to specsavers Shirley," fumed another fan.
"There was no way she didn't see Judi's tangle with the braces!" remarked another.
And another said: "Judi should have gone as she did make a mistake and Anton is the only judge who saw it, the other judges chose to ignore it.
A fourth said: "Well done Anton for spotting and saying about the mistake made by Judi. On that basis they should have gone. Unlucky Katie."
"You were the better dancer in the dance off Katie. No mistakes made unlike Judi and the brace," said another.
Another fan tweeted: "Truly am gutted for Katie. She was only just starting to improve and I don’t even think she deserved to be in the bottom. "Same with Judi."
Another commented: "As much as I love Judi and find her entertaining, the wrong couple left."
And another said: "Utter travesty. The judges really got this one wrong (apart from Anton obvs)."
Katie, who played Sinead Osbourne in Corrie, said: “I have absolutely loved my time, I am so happy I got to be Cruella, and dance with this amazing guy, I have loved every second of it.
"Thank you for being an amazing partner, we have laughed so much, and I get to walk away with an amazing friend.
"Thanks so much for teaching me in your funny ways, we have had so much fun.”
And Gorka said: “I have loved it, the love that she has for the show.
"I think talking for myself, and all the pros, when we come to the show, it isn’t just about someone who can dance, it is someone who wants to learn, who wants to improve, and makes us love what we do, and makes our job enjoyable and easy.
"That’s what I had with Katie and I will never forget this experience, it’s been incredible.”
