'Fuming' - Newcastle United fans react to confirmed team news at Sheffield United

Newcastle United fans were not convinced by Steve Bruce's starting line-up for Tuesday evening's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

Bruce made six changes for the match against the rock bottom Blades at Bramall Lane as Newcastle aim to end a run of seven games without a win in all competitions.

Karl Darlow is back in goal and Callum Wilson returns up front, while there are also starts for Fabian Schar, Ryan Fraser, DeAndre Yedlin and Federico Fernandez, who captains the side in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles.

Newcastle were edged out of the FA Cup by Arsenal, 2-0 after extra-time, in their previous fixture, while Chris Wilder's side finally registered a first win of the season, winning 3-2 at Bristol Rovers.

However, the Blades are still looking for their first league victory of the campaign and are 12 points adrift of safety after picking up only two points from their opening 17 games.

It looks like Bruce opted for five at the back - something not all fans were happy about, to say the least.

"Playing five at the back against bottom of the league. Absolute joke," one supporter said on Twitter.

Another tweeted: "If I was Matty Longstaff I’d be FUMING that I’d been dropped for Hendrick and Sean."

Meanwhile, a third person said: "That team is so defensive man."

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Darlow, Yedlin, Fernandez, Schar, Clark, Dummett, Hayden, S Longstaff, Hendrick, Fraser, Wilson.

Subs : Dubravka, M Longstaff, Carroll, Joelinton, Ritchie, Gayle, Murphy, Almiron, Anderson.
