Fuming Love Island fans storm Twitter over an unexpected new change to the hit show

Love Island 2021 finally has returned and the cast of 10 beautiful people are settling into the villa.

But a new addition has already ruffled fan's feathers.

No time was wasted as Laura Whitmore quickly got down to business and the men were coupled up with the women of their choosing.

Little spoiler here if you haven't caught up, but you can here- Not everyone was overwhelmed with their choice as Hugo and Toby ended up on the sub-bench and Fife model Shannon Singh made it quite clear she wasn't into Aaron.

But blue eyed Brad, who is coupled up with Faye, revealed to the boys that Shannon is more his type. Something to keep an eye on, maybe.

In good old fashioned Love Island style, the episode one was not without drama- from toe sucking to Love Island announcing a bombshell right at the end of the 90 minute episode.

Chloe Burrows was revealed as the first late arrive, letting the boys know she was right outside by sending a seductive voice note-rather than the iconic text.

As the contestants sat around the fire pit and Toby's phone buzzed, he told the others: "I've got a text you know... I've got a voice note", WalesOnline reported.

She could be heard saying: "Hey boys. How are you? Chloe here. I've just arrived and I'm outside the front of the Villa.

"I'd like to take you all on a date but I'll let you guys decide who wants to come and join me. Hopefully I'll see you soon."

The new additional voice note feature sparked confusion and disappointment in amongst fans and they were quick to take to Twitter to vent their anger.

One fumed: "'I've got a voice note' ?????? WTF IS THIS. WHERE'S THE 'I've got a text!!"

"There's voice notes this year?" questioned another.

While a third wrote: "Wooow a voice note instead of a text? It's really 2021"

And a fourth added: "'I've got a voice note' doesn't sound right AT ALL."

"Voice note?? what’s happened to the iconic ‘i’ve got a text?," asked another.

Another outcried: “i’ve got a voice note!” B**CH GIMME BACK OUR TEXTS"

You can watch Love Island at 9pm weekly on ITV2 or ITV Hub.
