Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to reclaim top spot in the Premier League when they make the short hop to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea this afternoon, kick-off 4:30pm.
Having taken up residency at the top of the table following last Saturday's impressive 2-0 home win over Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Liverpool replaced Jose Mourinho's side at the top yesterday lunchtime, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion.
But Spurs know a victory against Frank Lampard's Blues, who are on an excellent run of their own, winning their last six matches in all competitions, would see them return to the summit, opening up a five-point gap on Chelsea in the process.
And the side Mourinho is likely to name at Stamford Bridge this afternoon is going to have a freshness to it, with the Portuguese chief having made a total of 10 changes to his team for Thursday's routine 4-0 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League.
It is certain that the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will all return, with none of those three having been risked in midweek.
Whilst those three are expected to walk their way back into the team having been rested in midweek, Mourinho will certainly be able to welcome back right-back Matt Doherty after he missed the last two matches, after he tested positive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
He has now completed his period in self-isolation and is now free to return and target the right-back berth.
Elsewhere, Mourinho is expected to be able to call on goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and speedy winger Steven Bergwijn after the trio missed out in midweek with minor knocks.
Meanwhile, centre-back Toby Alderweireld is a certain absentee after suffering a serious muscle injury against City.
Although the Belgium international is facing up to four weeks on the sidelines, the injury is not as bad as first feared.
Speaking ahead of the win over Ludogorets, Mourinho said: "He has a muscular injury but not as big as we initially thought. He will have time to be out but not like a month which is what we immediately thought.
"So I would say between two and four weeks. But of course he is not playing tomorrow [Thursday]."
In his absence, summer signing Joe Rodon could be handed his first Premier League start for the club.
Erik Lamela remains sidelined with a foot injury.
