Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to bounce back from Thursday's 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United when they lock horns with Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening, kick-off 8:00pm.
After taking four points from their first two games back following the restart, drawing 1-1 with Manchester United and claiming a 2-0 home success against West Ham United, Spurs were confident of maintaining that unbeaten run against the Blades.
But Chris Wilder's side, who have defied the odds ever since returning to the Premier League last year, proved too strong for Spurs, running out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Sander Berge, Lys Mousset and Oliver McBurnie.
And this evening's clash with Everton will act as another strong test for Spurs, as the Toffees have taken seven points from their first three games back following the restart, which has included fixtures against Liverpool and Leicester City.
Ahead of tonight's clash under the lights in North London, Jose Mourinho - the Tottenham head coach - is sweating over the fitness of midfielder Dele Alli.
The former MK Dons man, who has scored nine goals in all competitions this season, suffered a hamstring problem on Saturday during training, meaning he faces the prospect of missing this evening's tussle with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
“There was something today [Saturday] in training with Dele, but when I say ‘something’ it’s because I don’t think it’s big, and because I don’t really know what it is," said Mourinho during his pre-match press conference.
"The bad thing of a press conference 48 hours before the game is that there is still a training session tomorrow, so you cannot know what I do not know, if he’s available or not. If you ask me at this moment, I would say that he will be available, but, I don’t know."
The only other injury concerns Mourinho is currently dealing with are those to defender Japhet Tanganga, who is expected to return to training next week, and Juan Foyth, who has recently suffered a serious knee injury.
With that in mind, Spurs are in a healthy position when it comes to strength in depth. To be without just two players at this stage of the season, especially after such a lengthy period without football, is good going.
Mourinho, though, could be tempted to ring the changes after a below-par showing against the Blades, meaning there could be returns to the starting line-up for the likes of Harry Winks, Erik Lamela and Tanguy Ndombele.
Whatever the Spurs boss does decides, though, he is not likely to struggle to name a match-day squad of 20 players, with all Premier League managers now allowed that luxury between now and the end of the season.
Full Tottenham squad: Hugo Lloris, Paulo Gazzaniga, Michel Vorm, Alfie Whiteman; Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Ben Davies; Oliver Skipp, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Gedson Fernandes, Dele Alli [subject to a late fitness test]; Ryan Sessegnon, Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela; Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Troy Parrott.
