Full Strawberry Moon: Weather forecast and how to spot it in Edinburgh

Skywatchers will get a rare treat tonight as a full Strawberry Moon is set to light up the sky.

The rare lunar spectacle, which occurs in June each year, occurs when the Moon is located on the opposite side of the Earth to the Sun.

According to Nasa, the moon will appear to be red and larger than normal for three days from Thursday morning - however, it will only be visible in Scotland for one day.

But the weather forecast for Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland could make it difficult for us to see, especially in the city with light pollution and high buildings.

The Met Office predicts the sun will set in Edinburgh just before 10pm, with clouds and light showers expected from 4pm onwards.

Visibility will also reduce to 'medium' as heavier clouds are expected from 9pm.

The moon won't be the only exciting space event this weekend.

A huge asteroid taller than Arthur's Seat will also pass by earth at about 11,200mph
